Testosterone blog

Testosterone is often considered to be the most important of a class of hormones called Androgen, due to its ability to regulate energy levels, libido, sexual performance, structural bone integrity, immune function, hair growth, and muscular development. It also plays a role in cognitive functions and mood enhancement.

It becomes easy to understand the many benefits of testosterone for men when taking into consideration these various functions. In other words, this powerful hormone affects a man from head to toe.

There are physiological dangers involved when testosterone levels are too low or too high, and that is where doctors who specialize in hormone replacement therapy can help. Blood analysis is used to measure both the free and total levels of testosterone in the body in order to determine if any type of treatment is required.

BENEFITS OF TESTOSTERONE FOR MEN

The importance of maintaining adequate testosterone levels was emphasized in the previous section. It may, however, be helpful to have a detailed list of the myriad of benefits that are available when treatment with testosterone for men is prescribed to counteract the effects of Low T.

These benefits include:

Increased lean muscle development and strength (not superhuman strength)

Stronger bones thanks to increased bone density

Weight loss and improved metabolic function

Increased energy and stamina

Thicker hair with possible regrowth in areas that have experienced a loss

Improved sexual function, desire, and performance

Sharper memory and cognitive skills

Better mood

Deeper sleep

Fewer colds

Lower triglyceride and cholesterol levels

Increased production of red blood cells

Weight!!! or wait?

Weight loss on your mind? Have you tried “everything but not seeing results”? It’s important to realize that there is more involved in weight loss than just what you eat and how much you exercise. If I told you that your hormones and how they are balanced, or not, have more control over weight than you might think, would you be inclined to believe me?

The relationship between hormones and weight loss is indeed fascinating. Your hormones are foundational to your organ function, circadian rhythms, metabolism, and overall weight. Sometimes, a proper diet and regular exercise aren’t enough. We must delve deeper into which systems may not be functioning optimally to support weight loss and effective weight management.

Take GLP-1s, for example. These medications are designed to balance the insulin-glucose axis, which allows food to move more slowly through your digestive system. This slower transit can help you consume less and ultimately aid in achieving a calorie deficit. However, even with the introduction of GLP-1s, some individuals still find it challenging to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight. This leads to an important question: what else could be influencing weight management?

Hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, IGF-1, testosterone, DHEA, and thyroid hormones all play significant roles in determining how our bodies utilize fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. They are involved in supporting every system that helps move toxins through the liver, thereby facilitating fat removal, utilizing carbohydrates for energy, and using protein to build lean muscle mass. Understanding the key functions of these hormones, along with knowing where your current hormone levels stand, can dramatically alter your perspective on weight and its management.

Consider this: what if the very hormones you overlook are the ones playing a pivotal role in your struggle with weight? It may be beneficial to have your hormone levels tested by a healthcare provider. Consulting with a longevity specialist can help you decipher the complexities of your hormonal balance and support you in unlocking the potential for more effective weight management.

Let’s take proactive steps to understand your unique body chemistry. Doing so may empower you to achieve your health and wellness goals and, ultimately, live your best life now. It’s time to shift your focus back to the foundational systems that support your overall well-being and to explore avenues that may have previously been overlooked in your weight loss journey. Your body has the capacity to thrive; it just may require a bit more insight and tailored support to truly flourish.

Balancing Hormones for Women’s Health: Understanding, Symptoms, and Solutions

YOU’RE NOT CRAZY OR ALONE!!

While we all use the same hormones to do similar tasks, women’s bodies are more sensitive to imbalances in many of the hormone shifts that can happen. Estrogen, active and inactive, balances with progesterone which helps to keep us calm and can help regulate blood pressure. The thyroid and testosterone (yes, we need it too) balance with growth hormone for optimal immune and gut function as well as support lean muscle production, red blood cell production and bone marrow production to help prevent osteopenia and osteoporosis. DHEA and how interacts with all of the sex hormones as the conductor of processes and how cortisol balances it. And the list goes on…

STATUS QUO or No?

The answer for men seemed to become available at every turn with Testosterone Replacement programs popping up in-person and online, leaving most women feeling broken and alone. As we move from age 35 into our 40s and 50’s, we start seeing and feeling changes and possibly excuse them with the kids, the job, the husband, the ugh whatever. BUT, because women have only recently (the last 40 years or so) become properly studied in medicine as different from men and our physiological changes as well, what we think we know is minimal at best and mostly represents what medicine knows about men.

GETTING IT RIGHT, FINALLY!

The brass tax is that women are not broken, weird, or alone. EVERY woman is currently, or going to go through in the near future, the same changes. When and at what severity depends on so many factors. That’s why an individual conversation detailing family history, their own medical and physical history, medication use from even early ages, the use of antibiotics, activity level, and things that may simply seem unrelated like falls off the bike, out of a tree, or even surgical intervention are crazy important. We use these variables to determine where you are currently and how we can tailor supplement, nutrition, exercise, and hormonal strategy to not only improve how you feel and look, but how your body works for years to come, prevent dis-ease and illness, and optimize brain function, weight, lean muscle mass, and so much more!

Many women begin noticing these symptoms well before actual menopause begins and feel helpless. Unfortunately, general medicine has fallen short to educate and assist them in replacing what’s needed to put them to rest. Things like:

Brain fog & Memory – unable to recall small details and forgetting a thought almost as you’re thinking it or forgetting recent details

Body warmth – hot flashes and night sweats or feelings of being flushed, waking up hot and sweaty, and the inability to cool down after exercise.

Rapidly shifting moods, onset of anxiety or feelings of despair, depression

Vaginal dryness or painful intercourse or loss of sex drive

Increase weight even with good nutrition and exercise

Thinning hair – especially around the hairline and eyebrows

Change in appetite – increased sugar cravings

Breast tenderness or breast size changes

Increased wrinkles and diminished elasticity, cellulite, and dry skin

Holistic Anti-Aging Solutions for Energy, Vitality, and Wellness

Aging in the US has become a continuum of education, research, and practice, REPEAT. Men and women are searching for the newest best ways to fight the hair loss, wrinkling skin, weight gain, sleeplessness, diminished sex drive and muscle loss they are seeing more and more daily. According to the New York post a recent study of 2,000 adults questioned the average person’s perceived energy levels throughout the day and the results found that 38% feel low energy at least four days a week. Those same people also reported low energy led them to feeling burnt out.

Medications for weight loss, hair loss, sugar regulation and so much more are often thought of as the answer but still we continue to feel unfulfilled. There are so many variables that affect energy, muscle and fat loss or retention, and just the feeling of well-being we all enjoyed in our younger years. Eating “right” and exercise were once thought of as the one-two punch and all we needed. However, it soon became clear that to fully reach the pinnacle of antiaging we would need more. A lot more!

Boost Your Immunity blog

Hi,

I hope this message finds yourself and family well, safe and sound. We are all concerned about the virus outbreak and worrying about how we can keep ourselves out of its path. One way to help to shield yourself from any virus outside of washing your hands, using sanitizer, self distancing, and disinfecting your surroundings is to build up your immune system. After all there are other cold and flu viruses going around, not to mention that it’s allergy season.

Here are a few suggestions to help:

  1. Supplements and food – Dose up on vitamin C (up to 2,000mg ) daily, take probiotics (at least 10 billion live cultures with food once daily) or eat probiotic foods like greek yogurt, sauerkraut, kimchi and ACV (apple cider vinegar) daily as well. Ramp up your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables. They contain antioxidants and improve immune function as well as aid the body in lowering fat so it can fight off any unwanted attacks.
  2. Hydration – Start your day with a cup of warm water, a half fresh squeezed lemon, and organic honey. Stay hydrated by drinking a glass of water once an hour or two, and of course, keep your distance from others. Warm soups and teas are also relaxing and soothing. Most black tea contains theanine and others such as oolong and green tea as well.
  3. Hormone balance- If you are on hormone therapy be sure to take your medications as instructed. You may not know this but testosterone helps the body repair and to make red blood cells which is integral in staying healthy. Growth hormone lives in the gut and that is where good immune health starts!! B vitamins also help the body to flush out toxins through the liver, from the cell, and tissue and of course give us energy. Amino acids also aid our bodies in putting a protective layer around the cell so it uses the amino for cellular processes, to build muscle, and regenerate healthy cells to fight disease and infection.

Obviously if you are or get sick, even if it’s not coronavirus, these measures are not meant to be cures by any stretch of the imagination, but done daily can shorten the length of time you are sick. The idea is to strengthen your body’s defenses to be able to put a barrier around your immune system so it can fight the way you need it to.

Soon enough life will get back to normal, but until then let’s do all we can to stay safe and keep our families, friends, and neighbors safe as well.

Please let me know if you have questions or concerns about this information.

Be well and live young for ever!

Magnesium and Zinc blog

You may be wondering why you are not feeling the energy and retaining more natural, lean muscle even with good diet, regular exercise, and proper adjustment of your hormone balances. There are several possible reasons, but one I am pretty sure you didn’t think about is not taking in optimal amounts of magnesium and zinc. Let’s face it, the food we eat today is NOT nutrient dense and leaves our physiological functions deprived of what the body needs to ward off disease, fight ailments, and be our best. Hence our sudden affinity for healthier food options and educating ourselves about what exactly is in our food. Congratulations on taking the right steps to better your health for your family and yourself!

These two amazing minerals are essential to maintain optimal health and longevity. Magnesium and zinc support the nervous system, muscle function, the immune system, bone health, digestion, gut health, proper growth, modulating hormone balance (especially natural testosterone in both mend and women), and even helps keep your heart beating! Below I have provided you with some great websites with clinical information about how magnesium and zinc can take you to the next level as far as energy, recovery and repair, strengthening immunity, and so much more. I am not paid by any of these sites or in any way have affiliation with them. I am just a certified Wellness Coach with 24 years experience working alongside the best in the medical industry in oncology, long term care, compounding pharmacy, anti-aging, and wellness wanting to pass this valuable information on to help you be a better you!
