Hi,

I hope this message finds yourself and family well, safe and sound. We are all concerned about the virus outbreak and worrying about how we can keep ourselves out of its path. One way to help to shield yourself from any virus outside of washing your hands, using sanitizer, self distancing, and disinfecting your surroundings is to build up your immune system. After all there are other cold and flu viruses going around, not to mention that it’s allergy season.

Here are a few suggestions to help:

  1. Supplements and food – Dose up on vitamin C (up to 2,000mg ) daily, take probiotics (at least 10 billion live cultures with food once daily) or eat probiotic foods like greek yogurt, sauerkraut, kimchi and ACV (apple cider vinegar) daily as well. Ramp up your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables. They contain antioxidants and improve immune function as well as aid the body in lowering fat so it can fight off any unwanted attacks.
  2. Hydration – Start your day with a cup of warm water, a half fresh squeezed lemon, and organic honey. Stay hydrated by drinking a glass of water once an hour or two, and of course, keep your distance from others. Warm soups and teas are also relaxing and soothing. Most black tea contains theanine and others such as oolong and green tea as well.
  3. Hormone balance- If you are on hormone therapy be sure to take your medications as instructed. You may not know this but testosterone helps the body repair and to make red blood cells which is integral in staying healthy. Growth hormone lives in the gut and that is where good immune health starts!! B vitamins also help the body to flush out toxins through the liver, from the cell, and tissue and of course give us energy. Amino acids also aid our bodies in putting a protective layer around the cell so it uses the amino for cellular processes, to build muscle, and regenerate healthy cells to fight disease and infection.

Obviously if you are or get sick, even if it’s not coronavirus, these measures are not meant to be cures by any stretch of the imagination, but done daily can shorten the length of time you are sick. The idea is to strengthen your body’s defenses to be able to put a barrier around your immune system so it can fight the way you need it to.

Soon enough life will get back to normal, but until then let’s do all we can to stay safe and keep our families, friends, and neighbors safe as well.
